Lime

It takes 2.2 pounds of the rind of the lime to make just one 15 milliliter bottle of oil.

That's awesome. It's so good, and the aroma is very unique. It totally smells like a lime. However, it has a tart, sweet, citrus, floral-y almost aroma to it. It's so good and I love, absolutely love, adding lime to a cold beverage, whether it's an ice water or a cocktail, whatever you prefer, it literally brings your drink alive. It's so good.

It's in our water right now.

Yeah, it's delicious.

There are currently 55 studies, published studies, on lime essential oil and there are more to come. It's a very researched oil. We do know quite a bit about this oil and there's 50 molecules in the oil so it's a very molecular, diverse essential oil compared to some others. But the three primary molecules are of course limonene which we see in all citrus. 60% is limonene.

13% is gamma-terpinene. Gamma-terpinene is a wonderful molecule for our teeth and our gums, so when we use lime internally it's very protective for our teeth and gums and it actually prevents plaque buildup. So it's a great oil to use internally. And then about 10% of the oil is beta-pinene, which we see alpha-pinene in a lot of the wood oils like juniper berry, Douglas fir, Siberian fir, frankincense, we see a lot of alpha-pinene.

However, beta-pinene is similar but just kinda the opposite isomer and this molecule is also very uplifting emotionally. It's a very cleansing molecule, so we do see great cleansing properties to lime oil along with the detoxifying, the emotional uplifting, and the energizing properties of this oil.

I don't really talk about cooking and food with the essential oils. However, my sister-in-law Kelly, when I just had Mila, she was being Mama Kelly, we call her, bringing me snacks. She simply cut up an avocado, little bit of salt and pepper, and just put about three drops on the avocado of lime essential oil. It was so good, so refreshing, so now whenever I see an avocado, whenever I cook with an avocado, lime essential oil goes on it. It's just so good.

One thing to be aware of with citrus oils like lime, lemon, grapefruit, wild orange, is when you put 'em on topically, stay out of the sun because they're photosensitive, they have furanocoumarins in them and you will burn. So if you put lime essential oil on your skin somewhere, be sure to not go in the sun for about 12 hours unless you wash it off with soap and water.

If you do put lime on this is what's gonna happen. Emotionally, it's gonna detox your heart. So it literally creates space in your heart for love and light, removes toxic emotions and feelings that we store in our heart. If you're dealing with heartache or any kind of heart issues, use lime essential oil topically and it's gonna detoxify your heart and create space.
